Our goal is to help individuals organize and share the documentation of their legacy simply and efficiently.
Bookshelf Life is a highly customizable digital document vault where users can organize their documents in the same way they would physically: binders with tabs. Professionals can create binders for clients which are put on the client's "shelf." When it's time to pass the legacy on, the binders will be released as read-only copies to user-designated beneficiaries.
Bookshelf Life isn't just for professionals. As a personal user, you have a place to organize the documents that matter most β estate plans, insurance policies, property records, medical directives, and anything else you want accessible and secure.
Create binders for every aspect of your life β estate planning, real estate, insurance, medical records, financial accounts. Organize them with color-coded sections just like a physical filing system, but always at your fingertips.
When your attorney or accountant shares binders with you, glossary terms appear as highlighted tooltips right inside the documents. No more guessing what "per stirpes" or "basis adjustment" means β the answer is one tap away.
Binders you create are yours alone. Professionals cannot see your personal binders unless you explicitly share them. You decide who sees what.
Life is unpredictable. By organizing your most important documents now β wills, trusts, insurance policies, account information β you give your family clarity and simplicity during what may be the most difficult moment of their lives.
Receive binders directly from your attorney, accountant, or financial advisor. Their contact information is always visible on your dashboard. Everything stays connected.
Your binders travel with you. Access your documents from any device β phone, tablet, or desktop. Swipe through pages, search across binders, and find what you need in seconds.
Sign up for free and set up your personal bookshelf in seconds.
Create binders for each area of your life β estate, property, medical, financial β and add color-coded sections to stay organized.
Drop in your important files. Everything is stored securely and accessible only to you.
When your attorney or advisor shares binders with you, they appear on your shelf automatically with glossary support built in.
Designate beneficiaries or share access with family members so your documents are available when they're needed most.
A message from the founder of Bookshelf Life.
Throughout my time developing business and estate plans for my clients, I noticed a sharp decline in clients desiring to receive or even caring about the physical binders that I take a lot of pride in putting together. Now, operating agreements and contracts hide in either e-mails or bland file-sharing servers. Our world is becoming increasingly digital which has given us fewer opportunities to appreciate the moments where we finish putting the bow on our physical work product and hand it to our clients.
I started Bookshelf Life as a hobby to try and emulate that moment with my clients in a digital space. As the idea and the product grew, I realized it could be much more than just a nostalgic attempt to spark a feeling I missed. By adding a glossary that defines words in the document, I could continue to answer my clientβs questions in a scope I never could physically. By allowing users to add beneficiaries to their accounts, I could easily pass along estate plans and other important documents upon a clientβs death to help my clients provide their final gifts of simplicity and clarity in what is typically one of the most difficult moments in their familyβs lives. I could use the push to digital to further benefit my clients, and they could have a valuable tool for peace in their futures..
Our book of existence has a shelf-life, and we can prepare for our expiration by putting our books of life on a shelf.
